This gun has been named the snapper sniper... It is quite an accurate gun ! I decided to build it because I had some extra teak, a trigger, and parts so I decided to make a gun like no other I had. All of my other guns are enclosed track guns - rear and mid handle guns for 5/16" shafts. The stocks on those guns are 58". I wanted a smaller Euro style gun... with an American touch... I saw Persiko's website and soon after the Teak Sea guns and decided to build a simular style. I already have a line gun so I decided to set this gun up for freeshafting or 'speedshafting as some call it - using no lines. I like this - it reminds me of bowhunting. I decided to build the gun to shoot 54" flopper shafts - 9/32" - no line. I added two items that I was not sure about - the band elevation rod, and the steel hoop over the shaft. Because I am not using a line on this gun - I needed something to keep shaft from falling off climbing in and out of boat. Riffe Spearguns used to install this 'hoop' on their guns so I did the same. I put the band elevator bar on the stock to bring the bands closer to the level of the shaft making the gun more simular to railguns - the idea is a good one -the gun shoots very straight. I have tested the gun using one band with shots of 14-17' (4.5M -5.8 Meters) Gun stock - 50" - (127 centimeters) Shaft 9/32" 7.14mm - 54" (136 centimeters) Bands 5/8 (16 mm) Stock material - laminated teak Finish - West System Epoxy
